Main Purpose

The duties of an IT Technician include being a reference point for all IT related queries at the user level, responding to user needs in a timely manner and ensuring the optimal running of all systems, among other technical duties. IT Technicians are expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels. They are required to listen to their technical needs, understand their problems and implement solutions to them.


Essential Functions

Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability.

Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.

Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.

Performing tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.

Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting.

Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.

Managing technical documentation.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements

Standing: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.

Walking: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.

Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping: These physical requirements are essential job functions.

Pushing and Pulling: These physical requirements are essential job functions.

Reaching, forward, and reaching overhead: These are essential job functions/physical requirements.

Climbing: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.

Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing: These are all considered regular physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this environment safely and efficiently.

Lifting: Employees must lift 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50-75 lbs.

Desirable Experience/Training

Associate's degree or 2+ years of experience in Computer Science or related field preferred.

A+, Linux+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate accreditation advantageous.

Manlift (Riding, not operating. This is not a frequent occurrence, but may be necessary.)


Environmental Conditions

90% of work activities are performed indoors. Some jobs will require the employee to go out into the yard or shop.
